Obituary

CLEATON, KY., Lendell Phelps, 68, of Cleaton passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 at the U of L Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Born on February 8, 1954 the beloved husband, father, brother and friend. His membership was sustained with the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cleaton, KY. Lendell was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and was best remembered as a man who fiercely loved his family, kept his word, and was always willing to help family and friends. He was an accomplished mechanic and all-round handyman with an endless fascination for cars, aviation, and all things mechanical. Lendell was greatly loved, and his presence will be sorely missed in this world.

He was preceded into Heaven by his mother Lillian Duncan Phelps and father Eugene Phelps, son Philip Phelps, sisters Andrea Phelps, Connie Phelps, Lois Phelps, Sandra Phelps Walker, and Phyllis Ann Mitchell.

Lendell is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Roberta “Birdie” Phelps, 1 daughter Jamesetta Nash, 1 son Aaron (Sarah) Phelps, 4 grandchildren Sean (Harlie) Phelps, Camille Masterson, David Nash, and Essence Nash, 3 great grandchildren Olivia Nash, Sahara Nash, and Atlas Phelps, 5 brothers Michael Phelps of Sacramento, CA., Jerry Phelps of Pinson, AL., Ricky Phelps of Cleaton, Melvin Phelps of Toronto, Canada, and Perry Phelps of Camden, DE., 5 sisters Gloria Phelps of Louisville, Elaine Lewis of Sacramento, CA., Janie Phelps of Cleaton, Patricia Phelps of Murfreesboro, TN., and Annetta Phelps of Dover, DE.

Visitation will be 11 am to 1 pm at the church. Lendell will be laid to rest in West End Cemetery in Greenville, KY near his son Philip Phelps’ plot and Rev. Jerrell M. Clark, Eulogist. Bibbs Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be held on 1 pm Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cleaton, KY.

Facemask are required for the visitation and funeral service.
