Greenville, KY., — Sylvester (Sly) Lewis Johnson, 46, of Greenville passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at his residence. He was born June 15, 1975 in Greenville, KY. He was a member of the Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church 275 St Route 2533 Greenville, KY. He was employed by Cracker Barrel in Madisonville. He also served on the City Council of Greenville. Sylvester Lewis Johnson graduated from Muhlenberg South High School where he was best known for being the school mascot the “Soulman”. Following high school he attended Madisonville Community College. Sylvester (Sly) Johnson had a heart to serve and he loved all people. He spent his life giving in any capacity that he could. He never met a stranger. If he met you once he called you friend. He was loved by many. He wore many titles that include son, brother, uncle, coach, mentor, friend and now some are calling him a legend. As the songwriter penned “your candle burned out long before your legend ever will”. Sylvester Johnson will forever live-in the hearts of many.

Survivors include his loving mother Gladys Johnson of Central City, 2 sisters Connie (Joseph) Tyler-Givens of Augusta, GA and Pamela Johnson of Greenville, 1 aunt Elaine Reed of Chicago, IL., 1 nephew Derek Tyler of El Paso, TX., 2 nieces Whitney Tyler of Apex, NC and Alexis (Franklin) Sabo of Louisville, 2 great nieces, a host of cousins and countless friends.

Visitation will be 11:00AM until time of service. Burial will be in West End Cemetery in Greenville, KY. Rev. Gary Embry, Eulogist and Rev. Joseph Givens, Officiating. Bibbs Funeral Home in Greenville, KY is in charge of arrangements.

Services will be 1:00PM on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Duvall’s Chapel Church in Greenville, KY.

Facemask are encouraged but not required.
